The end of the year is coming up soon, so I wanted to share with you my top 10 tips on how to meet your true love on New Years Day. Since you are reading my food blog, I assume you like food (and who doesn’t!), so apart from joining free dating sites uk , I’ve included a few extra fun activities to help you to meet a fellow food lover.
1. Book on a foodie course
To start off with, I’m going to suggest to book on a short food course or a food tasting session. You’ll be in a small group of likeminded people and having something in common makes it always easy to start a conversation. How about a coffee tasting session, learning to bake bread or make your own chocolates?
2. Book on a themed dinner party
There are many ways to celebrate the end of the year with a themed dinner party. Check out what’s local in your area, there is always something that you might like. For example, I’ve recently seen a medieval dinner celebration, where everyone is dressed in period costume, and the food is prepared using historic recipes.
3. Go to a Masquerade ball
You shall go to the ball! O.K so this one involves more planning than my other tips, but this could be a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year and have some fun at the same time. Since you’ll be wearing a mask, you’ll be able to look around freely and see who is attending before deciding who to talk to.
4. Organise a cocktail party at your home
How about picking up few cocktail recipes from a cookery book, getting the right ingredients and inviting your friends to bring their friends (not other couples) to come round and learn how to mix their favourite cocktails. Depending on your budget you can even invite a professional to join you and lead the cocktail making party for you.
5. Invite friends for morning brunch
This is a very informal way to meet somebody new, and this time it will be on familiar ground! I’m going to suggest that you invite your friends over for a New Years Eve brunch and ask them to bring somebody you don’t know. As you’ll be the host, you will be the centre of attention, which is a perfect position to be in to meet new people.
6. Organise a film night
Pick your favourite New Years films and turn your living room into a home cinema. Invite your friends (and ask them to bring plus one, but not their partners), make a homemade popcorn, miniburgers or sausage dogs rolls and some other cinema snacks to make the evening extra special.
7. Help out at food bank or a soup kitchen
At this time of year, every soup kitchen or food bank needs extra volunteers to help to support those in needs. You’ll be helping those who need it and get you to talk to the other volunteers, who I’m sure, will be from all walks of life.
8. Stay at home
In case you feel like snuggling home on a sofa with your favourite book and cup of hot chocolate, don’t forget you can also find your perfect match on WeLoveDates. You have nothing to lose, so why not create your own profile today, it only takes a few minutes!
9. Have a coffee
How about starting the day with a perfect cup of coffee? But instead of making it yourself, head to your local café and have it there. Stay a little longer than usual and just watch the world go round. The chances are that the same people come every day roughly at the same time and you might be able to spot a few single people too. The next step is just to start a conversation!
10. Visit the next town to have a drink
Instead of heading to your local pub or bar, go the further field and have a drink somewhere where you’ve not been before. Imagine that you are visiting the town and need directions or want to know what’s happening locally and ask around. You just might find that right person to show you the town sights!
Extra Tip – Go food shopping
I’m assuming that if you are reading my food blog, you like cooking, and you know your way around the kitchen. So, your next challenge is to go food shopping! Walk around and when the opportunity presents itself as the right person a food-related question, where you can demonstrate your food knowledge. Anything from: ‘This is an interesting ingredient, what recipe are you going to use for that? Or ‘That’s quite a tricky food to get right, I’d love to know your tips on cooking it?
Extra Tip – Walk a dog
It’s official! I have no idea why, but everyone seems to talk to the dog owners when they are walking their dogs. So, why not dress up, make yourself beautiful and head for the local park! If you don’t have your own dog volunteer to walk your friends’ dog.
